Lesley Kucharski

Lesley Kucharski is a Graduate Student Research Intern at the Center for Global Security Research, where she is supporting the Center's work on US extended deterrence. Her research involves a comparative analysis of strategic challenges in the Black Sea and South and East China Seas.

In December 2017 Lesley graduated from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) with an MA in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies. During her studies, she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies on a project about US-Russian cooperation in nonproliferation. She also received training in Russian-English translation and interpretation and had the opportunity to work as an intern at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs in New York.

Lesley is trained as a Russian linguist. In addition to translation and interpretation training at MIIS, she studied Russian at Middlebury College and the University of Michigan, where she acquired an MA and BA, respectively.
