Dr. Aaron Miles is a Fellow at CGSR, he has researched and written on a range of science and security topics, including deterrence policy, nuclear weapons, arms control, fusion energy, astrophysics, and planetary defense. He is currently serving on assignment as Principal Assistant Director for National Security and International Affairs at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. He previously served as Assistant Director for Nuclear and Strategic Technologies in that same office. Prior to these assignments, Dr. Miles served as a senior policy advisor on nuclear deterrence in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Maryland and a graduate certificate in National Security Studies from Texas A&M University.
