Leah Matchett, CGSR Research Assistant

Leah Matchett is a Research Assistant at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. She uses text analysis tools to investigate policy discussions on emerging technologies and security in the US media and government.

Leah is a second year PhD student at Stanford University, where she is also a member of the first cohort of Knight-Hennessy Scholars. She received her Masters of Philosophy in International Relations with Distinction in 2018 from Oxford after a two year tenure as a Marshall scholar. In 2016, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a double major in Geology and Global Studies. Her work focuses on nuclear policy, domestic defense politics, symbolism in proliferation, and Chinese defense politics.
