Joseph Johnson

Joseph Johnson is a Graduate Student Research Intern at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His research at CGSR focuses on scoping the role of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in the Intelligence Community and how they fit into the broader framework of disruptive and sustaining technologies.

He is a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at Brigham Young University. He also works as a Graduate Research Assistant at the BYU Data Mining Lab under Dr. Christophe Giraud-Carrier where his research focuses on Metalearning; the use of Machine Learning to improve the process of Machine Learning. He was recently awarded a scholarship under the Science, Mathematics, And Research for Transformation (SMART) Defense Education Program.

He holds a BA in International Studies and MBA; both from BYU. He previously worked as a business analyst and served a deployment to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
