Alan is a master's student at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a Research Assistant with the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His research focuses on the evolving dynamics of nuclear strategic stability and nuclear deterrence, particularly as affected by the advent of hypersonic weapons. Additional research interests include weapons design and testing, tactical nuclear weapons, and topics where nuclear weapons intersect with the maritime domain.
Alan graduated from Jacksonville University with a B.S. in Physics and was immediately commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He served 11 years on active duty in the surface warfare and intelligence communities before transitioning to the naval reserves.
