Donghyeon Kim

Donghyeon Kim is a Research Associate at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Donghyeon’s primary research interests are relationship between regime type and nuclear strategy, and drivers of nuclear strategy evolution. At the CGSR, Donghyeon plans to examine how a personalist dictatorship (in the case of North Korea) affects the formulation of nuclear strategy in peacetime and crisis.

Previously, Donghyeon was a resident Kelly fellow and nonresident Korea Foundation fellow at Pacific Forum. He worked as a coordinator for the Korea Project at Harvard’s Belfer Center. Also, he was a Boston Correspondent of JoongAng Media Group interviewing scholars and practitioners on evolving issues of the Korean Peninsula. Donghyeon served in the Republic of Korea Army as a translator in G5 Future Operations, 2nd Infantry Division, United States Forces Korea and worked at the President’s Office of the Republic of Korea.
