Alex Bednarek

Alex Bednarek is a Graduate Student Research Intern at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His research at CGSR focuses on the role of scientific and technical cooperation in the reduction of critical global threats, specifically the work of the International Science and Technology Center and the Science and Technology Center in Ukraine.

He is on leave from a staff position at the Nuclear Threat Initiative in Washington, D.C., where his work encompasses international nuclear fuel cycle activities, as well as the international and domestic security of non-nuclear radioactive materials. He previously worked on the Subcommittee for Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade under the
U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee.

He holds a master’s degree in Security Policy Studies from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
