Innovating for the public sector: How corporations are contributing to cybersecurity for the common good
There has never been a more urgent need for the public and private sectors to collaborate effectively on cybersecurity and to quickly make use of innovative, emerging technologies. In this presentation, Mr. Goldhammer make use of private sector frameworks to expand how we think about innovation in the service of national security and to explore different collaboration models that have been proven to yield innovative solutions. He will also address the capabilities that government agencies and their contractors need to develop to make good use of these models. Finally, Mr. Goldhammer will raise what some important questions about the novelty of our innovation ecosystem in the context of geopolitical conflict and international economic competition.
Jesse Goldhammer is a Managing Director in Deloitte's West Coast cyber security practice. He builds cybersecurity strategies and programs to safeguard public sector agencies and universities, protecting their data, networks, systems, and people from a wide range of cyber threats. Jesse has worked extensively with the US defense, intelligence, and homeland security communities as well as with commercial and philanthropy and clients. He specializes in helping clients build new capabilities using cutting-edge technologies and new analytic capabilities. Mr. Goldhammer was previously Associate Dean of Business Development and Strategy at UC Berkeley's School of Information (I School). Prior to joining UC Berkeley, Jesse was a Principal in Deloitte Consulting's innovation business unit, Doblin, where he designed strategies and innovative programs for US government agency leaders who wanted to operationalize new analytic and technological capabilities.
