On June 5, 2014, LLNL hosted a workshop on "Understanding New Challenges to Strategic Stability." Dr. Brad Roberts, who recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Missile Defense Policy, led the meeting jointly-convened by Stanford University's Center for International Security & Cooperation, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The key question addressed by the participants was "how should U.S. thinking about the requirements of strategic stability with Russia and China be affected by recent developments in their policies and postures?" Attendees included policy thought leaders Ambassador Linton Brooks, Admiral James Ellis, Ted Warner, Michael Nacht, Jim Tegnelia, Clark Murdock and James Acton and many others from LLNL, LANL, CISAC, and the Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI).
