Sydney Brashers

Sydney Brashears is a Research Associate at the Center for Global Security Research at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. During her time with CGSR, She will be supporting the Organization’s work under the “Future of Cooperative Strategies to Reduce Global Dangers” project. Her research will focus on how safeguards can or should be adapted to reduce proliferation concerns associated with reactor exports and advanced reactor technologies. 

Sydney earned her Master of International Policy from the School of Public and International Affairs at the University Georgia. During her master’s program, Sydney served as a research assistant for the Center for International Trade and Security and specialized in energy security and WMD nonproliferation. Her master’s capstone project, at the intersection of these two specialties, examined the potential effects of emerging small modular reactor technology on today’s international nuclear safeguards regime. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Political Science from Auburn University.
