Leo Alexander Keay is a Research Associate at the Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. His research examines how artificial intelligence—particularly large language models—can be used to simulate nuclear conflict, analyze escalation dynamics, and develop new concepts for intrawar deterrence in a multi-peer nuclear environment.
Leo is a PhD candidate in the Department of Defence Studies at King’s College London, where his doctoral research focuses on the strategic implications of emerging technologies for international security. Prior to joining CGSR, he ran a wargame on U.S.–China nuclear escalation with the Heritage Foundation and previously served as a staffer in the UK Parliament. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Oxford and an MA from Sciences Po, Paris.
