Geoff Hoffman is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Global Security Research. His work examines the impact of emerging technologies on international politics, with a focus on US–China great power competition. His research interests include artificial intelligence, authoritarianism, cybersecurity, and internet censorship.
Previously, Geoff was a USIP Peace Scholar Fellow and an NBR Chinese Language Fellow. His work has also been supported by the 21st Century China Center, the Smith Richardson Foundation, and the Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation.
Geoff earned his PhD in Political Science and International Affairs from UC San Diego, with specializations in international relations, political methodology, and computational social science. He also holds master’s degrees from Columbia University and Tsinghua University, and a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s College, Santa Fe.
