Sara Lashanlo

Sara Lashanlo joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2023 as an engineer on the W80-4 Life Extension Program. Before joining the Lab, she worked in the medical device industry, gaining experience in product design, clinical test oversight, and project management. After running for local office in 2022, Sara redirected her career to combine her engineering background with her passion for public service and interest in national security, leading her to the Lab. Her research interests include global energy and technology competition as well as the impact that domestic politics and partisanship has on international affairs. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Cal Poly SLO and is a fellow at Texas A&M’s National Security Affairs Program.
